This is a hybrid role, with two fixed days in the London office (Tuesday and Wednesday).
About the Role
This is an exciting opportunity for an eager and enthusiastic Technical Sales Engineer with 3+ years’ experience in technical sales and knowledge of the marine industry. You will have the opportunity to work with our international client base which extends to China, Singapore, Brazil, Southern and Northern Europe to support the delivery of the sales and marketing strategy and achieve the Company’s sales targets.
You will be responsible for putting together the offer to the customer with corresponding technical and commercial information as well as following up and progressing ongoing processes.
Purpose of the Job
To independently manage customer relationships and support sales projects through the cycle from technical feasibility studies through to commercial negotiations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct detailed analysis of vessel performance and fuel/emissions savings to develop a business case for client vessels fitted with rotor sails.
- Qualify leads and develop bespoke technical and commercial proposals for shipowners and project stakeholders based on their specific vessel criteria.
- Advise clients on how rotor sails impact regulatory compliance with IMO and regional frameworks (e.g. CII, EEDI, FuelEU and EU ETS, etc).
- Act as point of contact for technical queries from owners’ side, and shipyard design and procurement departments from the early project stage.
- Conduct handovers of new projects for implementation to project team.
- Management of the company CRM system.
- Participate in client meetings, marketing initiatives and in business development activities in and out of local country, as required.
Candidate Profile
- At least 3 years’ experience in a technical sales role.
- Degree or equivalent qualification in a marine engineering/technology or Naval Architecture.
- Sincere interest in the shipping industry.
- A strong technical background and experience in B2B sales.
- Proficiency in Matlab and CAD.
- Experience working for an international business.
- Confident with ability to talk about customer’s technical needs.
- A willingness to both learn and share knowledge.
- Client-facing experience with the ability to build and maintain strong relationships.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to act as a skilled influencer.
