Anelec is growing and we're looking for a motivated, hands‑on individual to join our commercial team. This is a genuinely varied role: you'll be involved in electrical estimating, materials procurement, supplier liaison, and broader commercial support giving you wide exposure to how projects are won and delivered. Estimating will be a core part of the role, but we need someone who's happy to roll their sleeves up across the commercial function as the business demands. If that sounds like you, we'd like to hear from you. Full training will be provided on our estimating processes, software, and project portfolio. We're not looking for a finished article - a solid electrical background and the right attitude matter more than a polished CV. Whether you've come through a degree, an HNC/HND, an apprenticeship, or time on site, if you're keen to move into an office‑based commercial role, this could be the opportunity you're looking for.

Duties

  • Assisting with the preparation of cost estimates and tender submissions for electrical works, including renewable technologies (solar PV, EV charging, battery storage, heat pumps).
  • Reading and interpreting drawings, specifications, and technical documents to assist with take-offs and pricing.
  • Procuring materials and placing orders with suppliers, managing lead times and ensuring projects have what they need, when they need it.
  • Liaising with suppliers and manufacturers to obtain up‑to‑date prices, technical information, and product availability.
  • Supporting engineers and project managers with commercial coordination across active projects.
  • Helping to evaluate subcontractor quotes and supporting procurement for electrical packages.
  • Attending site visits and pre‑tender meetings as required.
  • Keeping up to date with industry developments, building regulations and sustainability standards.

Experience & Qualifications

Essential:

  • A working knowledge of UK electrical systems gained either through study, an apprenticeship, or time working on site.
  • Good numeracy and attention to detail.
  • A practical, flexible approach, comfortable taking on varied tasks and getting things done.
  • A genuine interest in the commercial side of electrical contracting.
  • Strong communication skills and a willingness to learn.

Desirable:

  • HNC/HND or degree in Electrical Engineering, Building Services, or a related discipline.
  • Some exposure to renewable technologies (solar PV, EV infrastructure, battery storage).
  • Experience of materials procurement or supplier management.
  • Familiarity with AutoCAD or electrical design tools.
  • Knowledge of BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations).

What We Offer

  • £28,000 – £38,000 per year, depending on experience and background.
  • Structured training and mentoring from experienced estimators and engineers.
  • Involvement in cutting‑edge sustainable and renewable energy projects.
  • Clear career development pathway into senior estimating, commercial management, or project delivery roles.
  • Supportive team environment with real progression opportunities.
  • Flexible working options where appropriate.
