Our client is a leading manufacturer of high-voltage coils and bars, operating from two state-of-the-art facilities near Sheffield, UK, with over 50 years of industry experience. They specialise in delivering high-quality coils and bars for high-voltage motors and generators and are trusted by globally recognised engineering and service organisations. Role Overview

Our client is seeking a highly motivated and commercially astute Technical Solutions Engineer to join their growing global team. This is a key technical-commercial role focused on positioning engineered solutions with consultants, OEMs, and end users across international markets. The role plays a critical part in influencing specifications at early project stages (FEED and RFQ), driving technical adoption, and supporting long-term growth across global power generation and industrial markets. This position offers a hybrid working arrangement, with occasional travel to the Sheffield site, international travel to meet clients and attend industry events, and is based within the S26 area / South Yorkshire region.

Key Responsibilities

  • Engage with engineering consultants and end users to position solutions at FEED and RFQ stages
  • Support sales and commercial teams in technical discussions with service providers and clients
  • Develop specification documents that reflect technical capability and value proposition
  • Influence customer requirements through consultative and solution-led engagement
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key engineering and technical stakeholders
  • Apply consultative selling techniques to support commercial success
  • Gather and feedback industry standards and engineering developments to internal
  • Work closely with engineering, operations, and marketing teams to tailor solutions for target markets
  • Ensure technical compliance with customer approval requirements and quality standards
  • Support the conversion of technical value into commercial outcomes alongside the sales team

Experience & Requirements

Essential

  • Experience working in a technical, engineering, or commercially focused B2B environment
  • Background in generator, motor, or rotating electrical equipment engineering or related sectors
  • Understanding of electrical testing standards and insulation techniques
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and consultative approach to working with clients
  • Experience working within engineering, manufacturing, or service-based technical organisations
  • Commercial awareness with the ability to identify opportunities and risks
  • Results-driven, proactive, and adaptable approach

Desirable

  • Electrical Engineering qualification or equivalent technical background
  • Experience in high-voltage rotating electrical equipment refurbishment or modernisation
  • Experience with generator or motor rewinds
  • Existing network within hydro or gas power generation sectors (OEMs, operators, end users)
  • Experience with high-voltage stator bars or coils

Further Information

Location: S26 area / South Yorkshire
Hybrid working available (role dependent on client and project needs)
Occasional UK and international travel required
