About the Company

Our client is an established and growing Hard Facilities Management (FM) provider, delivering specialist engineering and maintenance services across Yorkshire, the Northwest and wider UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Multi-Trade Technician (Plumbing & Drainage) to join their mobile engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Multi-Trade Technician (Plumbing & Drainage) looking for a varied role where no two days are necessarily the same, working across a diverse range of commercial and public-sector sites.

The Multi-Trade Technician will provide both planned and reactive maintenance services across multiple sites and sectors, with a strong emphasis on plumbing and drainage. The role involves delivering planned preventative maintenance (PPM), reactive repairs, fault finding, and small installations, while also supporting other building fabric and multi-trade tasks. This role requires flexibility, technical skill, and a customer-focused approach.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver Planned Preventative Maintenance, Reactive Repairs, and Installation works on systems including (but not limited to): Domestic and commercial hot & cold-water systems, Sanitary ware installations and maintenance, Drainage systems (internal & external) including unblocking, repair, and jetting, Pumps, water tanks, and associated controls, Rainwater goods and pipework repairs, Minor leak detection and repairs.
  • Carry out multi-trade tasks where required, such as basic carpentry, tiling, plastering, and painting to complete plumbing-related works.
  • Fault find and repair plumbing and drainage systems effectively.
  • Respond promptly and positively to reactive call requests from the Helpdesk Team.
  • Provide on-call service as part of a call-out rota.
  • Compile accurate quotations for installation and repair works, including materials and labour requirements.
  • Identify non-repairable issues and promptly advise the Contract Manager with findings and recommendations.
  • Travel to various sites as required to fulfil allocated tasks.
  • Follow instructions from Line Manager regarding scope and scheme of works.
  • Ensure compliance with Service Level Agreements (SLAs).
  • Monitor and update the CAFM system with work progress and completion details.
  • Engage with Health & Safety and Learning & Development forums to remain compliant with site safety regulations and maintain up-to-date training.
  • Promote sustainable use of materials and recycle where possible.
  • Always represent the company in a professional and positive manner to clients and colleagues.
  • Undertake any other duties required by the business and within the scope of the role.

Qualifications required:

  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing (or equivalent).
  • Water Regulations (WRAS) and Unvented Hot Water (G3) certification desirable.
  • Multi-Trade (Plumbing & Drainage) Technician Job Description Confined Spaces or High-Pressure Jetting certification (advantageous).
  • CSCS/ECS Card (desirable).

Experience:

  • Proven experience in plumbing installation, servicing, and maintenance.
  • Experience with drainage systems including unblocking, jetting, and repairs.
  • Multi-trade background with skills in carpentry, tiling, plastering, or painting (preferred).

Skills:

  • Ability to diagnose and repair plumbing and drainage issues safely and efficiently.
  • Good knowledge of UK plumbing regulations and compliance standards.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work on own initiative.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • IT literate (able to use CAFM or similar systems).

Other Requirements:

  • Full UK driving licence.
  • Flexible and self-motivated approach to work.
  • Strong customer focus with a commitment to delivering high standards.
  • Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota.
