About the Company

Our client is an established and growing Hard Facilities Management (FM) provider, delivering specialist engineering and maintenance services across Yorkshire, the Northwest and wider UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Maintenance Gas Engineer to join their mobile engineering team. This is an excellent opportunity for a qualified Gas Engineer looking for a varied mobile role, working across a range of commercial and domestic sites and carrying out planned, reactive and remedial gas maintenance. You'll be joining a technically capable and service-focused organisation that places quality, compliance, safety and customer service at the heart of its operations.

The Package

  • £23.08 per hour £45,006.00 pa
  • 37.5-hour standard working week
  • Company work vehicle provided
  • Paid travel time after the first and last 30 minutes of each working day
  • £150 standby payment for participating in the call-out rota
  • Day-to-day (D2D) travel time paid when on call-out
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x for hours worked above 37.5 hours per week

The Role

As a Maintenance Gas Engineer, you will be responsible for delivering planned and reactive gas maintenance across a variety of customer sites. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Carrying out Planned Preventative Maintenance (PPM)
  • Completing reactive repairs, fault finding and installation works
  • Working on a range of gas and heating systems, including:
    • Commercial and domestic gas boilers
    • Heating systems and pipework
    • Gas-fired water heaters
    • Gas-fired air handling units
    • Radiant tube heaters
    • Associated controls and safety devices
  • Carrying out gas safety checks, testing and certification
  • Diagnosing faults and completing repairs safely and efficiently
  • Responding promptly to reactive call-outs from the Helpdesk
  • Participating in an out-of-hours call-out rota
  • Providing accurate quotations for installation and repair works
  • Identifying non-repairable issues and reporting findings and recommendations to the Contract Manager
  • Travelling to various customer sites as required
  • Working within agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Updating the CAFM system with work progress and completion details
  • Maintaining accurate records and certification
  • Working in accordance with Gas Safe, health & safety and industry requirements
  • Representing the company professionally when dealing with customers and colleagues

About You

We're looking for an experienced Gas Engineer who is confident working independently across a range of gas and heating systems and is committed to maintaining high standards of safety and workmanship. You will ideally have:

Essential Qualifications

  • Relevant ACS Commercial Gas qualifications, including appropriate core and appliance competencies
  • CCN1 – Core Gas Safety
  • CENWAT1 – Boilers
  • HTR1 – Gas Fires
  • COCN1 – Core Commercial Gas or COCDN1 – Changeover
  • Current Gas Safe registration – company supported

Desirable Qualifications

  • CIGA1 – Commercial Indirect Fired
  • CDGA1 – Commercial Direct Fired
  • TPC1A – Pipework Testing or equivalent
  • COMCAT 1–5 – Commercial Catering – desirable, with training available
  • NVQ Level 2/3 in Plumbing & Heating

Experience & Skills

  • Proven experience in gas servicing, maintenance, fault finding and installation
  • Experience across commercial and/or domestic environments
  • HVAC and associated controls experience would be advantageous
  • Strong understanding of gas safety legislation and relevant industry standards
  • Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and use your own initiative
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • IT literacy, including the ability to use CAFM or similar systems
  • A full UK driving licence
  • Flexible and self-motivated approach to work
  • Strong customer-service focus
  • Willingness to participate in an out-of-hours call-out rota
