About the Company

Our client is an established and growing Hard Facilities Management (FM) provider, delivering specialist maintenance and engineering services across Yorkshire, the Northwest and wider UK. Due to continued growth, they are looking for an experienced Building Maintenance / Fabric Engineer to join their mobile team. This is a great opportunity for someone with a hands-on building maintenance, fabric maintenance, construction or shopfitting background who enjoys a varied mobile role and is confident working across different sites and environments.

You will undertake planned, reactive and remedial maintenance across a broad range of building fabric, joinery, plumbing and general maintenance requirements.

The package:

  • £16.95 per hour
  • 37.5-hour standard working week
  • Company work vehicle provided
  • Paid travel time after the first and last 30 minutes of each working day
  • £150 standby payment for participating in the call-out rota
  • Day-to-day (D2D) travel time paid when on call-out
  • Overtime paid at 1.5x for hours worked above 37.5 hours per week
  • Permanent position with an established and growing FM provider

The Role

As a Mobile Building Maintenance / Fabric Engineer, you will be responsible for carrying out planned and reactive maintenance across a variety of customer sites. Your work will cover a broad range of building fabric and general maintenance disciplines, including:

  • Building & External Works
  • Roof leaks and repairs
  • Gutters and gullies
  • Brickwork
  • Flooring
  • Car park surfacing
  • Building Fabric & Internal Works
  • Internal cladding
  • Wall tiling
  • Doors and protection works
  • Signage
  • Carpentry and joinery
  • Plastering
  • Glazing
  • Painting and decorating
  • Joinery
  • Doors and panels
  • Architraves
  • Locks and handles
  • Decking
  • Frames
  • Windows
  • Plumbing & Drainage
  • Toilets and sinks
  • Sanitary units
  • Drainage
  • Leaking taps and washers

You will also:

  • Carry out planned, reactive and installation works
  • Travel to various customer locations to complete allocated jobs
  • Respond to reactive maintenance requirements
  • Work to agreed Service Level Agreements (SLAs)
  • Follow instructions and agreed scopes of work
  • Update the CAFM system with completed works
  • Maintain high standards of workmanship
  • Work safely and in accordance with company procedures
  • Ensure materials and resources are used responsibly
  • Represent the company professionally when dealing with customers and colleagues

About You

We're looking for a practical, hands-on and self-motivated individual who takes pride in their work and can confidently deal with a variety of building maintenance tasks. You will ideally have:

  • NVQ Level 2 General Building Operations or similar
  • Level 2 Diploma in Construction Skills, Bench Joinery or equivalent
  • A valid and up-to-date CSCS card
  • Previous experience in building maintenance, fabric maintenance, construction or shopfitting
  • Strong practical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to work independently and use your own initiative
  • A flexible approach to work
  • Good organisational skills and the ability to meet deadlines
  • Good written and verbal communication skills
  • Basic IT/PC skills
  • A full UK driving licence
  • A strong customer-service focus
  • A commitment to completing work to a high standard
