Stockard Capital is seeking an Investment Analyst to support portfolio management and research activities across our client base. This role combines rigorous quantitative analysis with strategic thinking, providing exposure to public markets, alternative investments, and direct co-investment opportunities. You’ll work directly with senior investment professionals and interact with clients as you develop expertise. The Investment Analyst serves as a critical link between investment strategy development and execution.

You’ll conduct deep-dive research on asset managers, evaluate new investment opportunities, monitor existing portfolio holdings, and contribute to asset allocation decisions. The Investment Analyst at Stockard Capital has the following key responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive due diligence on potential investment managers across hedge funds, private equity, venture capital and real assets, including financial statement analysis, performance attribution, operational infrastructure assessment and reference calls.
  • Build sophisticated financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, stress-test portfolio scenarios and analyse risk-return characteristics across asset classes and investment structures.
  • Monitor portfolio performance on an ongoing basis, tracking returns against benchmarks, identifying attribution drivers, flagging potential issues and preparing detailed quarterly performance reports for clients.
  • Research market trends, macroeconomic developments and sector dynamics that inform investment strategy recommendations and asset allocation decisions.
  • Support alternative investment allocation process including reviewing private placement memoranda, participating in manager meetings, analysing term sheets and coordinating subscription documentation.
  • Prepare investment committee materials, client presentations, and research memoranda that synthesise complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Maintain investment databases, update portfolio tracking systems and ensure accurate record-keeping across custodial platforms.
  • Participate in client meetings to present investment research, answer questions about portfolio positioning and develop understanding of client objectives.
  • Coordinate with external investment consultants, lawyers and administrators on investment-related matters.
  • Stay current on regulatory developments, market innovations and best practices in institutional investment management.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, economics, accounting, mathematics, or related quantitative field required; MBA or progress toward CFA designation strongly preferred.
  • 2-4 years of progressive experience in investment analysis, asset management, investment banking or related role with demonstrated analytical capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel including financial modelling, sensitivity analysis, and complex formula construction; familiarity with Bloomberg Terminal, FactSet, or similar platforms.
  • Strong understanding of portfolio construction principles, asset allocation theory, and investment vehicle structures (limited partnerships, separately managed accounts, commingled funds).
  • Demonstrated ability to synthesise complex financial information, identify key insights and communicate findings clearly both verbally and in writing.
  • Intellectual curiosity and self-directed learning orientation; ability to quickly develop expertise in unfamiliar investment strategies or asset classes.
  • Meticulous attention to detail with strong organisational skills and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.
  • Professional maturity and discretion appropriate for high-net-worth client environment.
  • Team-oriented mindset with willingness to collaborate across functions while also working independently when required.
