Faculty position with expertise in Adventist Studies, with additional competencies in Church History and American Church History. The position also includes advising and mentoring of doctoral church history and Adventist Studies students.
Qualifications
- An earned doctorate (PhD) in a relevant field.
- Record of academic engagement and publications, and an ongoing research agenda in area of expertise.
- Commitment to excellence in teaching, strong interpersonal skills, ability to collaborate with colleagues, and effective communication.
- Strong support of Adventist beliefs and mission.
- Must be a Seventh-day Adventist in good and regular standing.
Duties and responsibilities
- Teach a full load of Adventist Studies and Church History courses at masters and doctoral levels.
- Advise and provide mentorship to graduate students and serve on doctoral committees.
- Participate in seminary and university life and responsibilities.
- Carry regular faculty responsibilities relating to teaching, service and research.
Supervisory responsibilities
Provide guidance to administrative staff and graduate assistants in conducting required functions and responsibilities.
Technical competencies
Technical competencies needed to successfully perform teaching, researching, advising and administrative responsibilities, including the ability to organize a wide variety of documents, reports, and files in various formats. Ability to teach on various online platforms (Zoom, Microsoft Teams, Learning Hub) and delivery formats (face-to-face, hybrid, virtual).
Interpersonal interactions
Must be comfortable interacting with students from diverse cultures.
Physical demands
As needed to fulfill teaching, service, research and advising responsibilities, requires long periods of sitting.
Work environment
Maintain a relatively quiet noise level.
