Through our nationwide depot network and highly skilled workforce, we support both planned and emergency requirements with reliable, professional, and cost-effective solutions.
We are now looking to appoint a Technical Manager – Diesel & Pumping Systems to provide technical leadership, training, and expert support across our pumping operations. This role is key to maintaining high engineering standards, supporting our engineers in the field, and optimising diesel-driven pumping systems. Senior Engineers looking to step up into a technical management role will be considered. Full training on Sykes pump products will be provided.
The Role
- Act as the technical authority for diesel engines, pumps, and pumping systems
- Provide expert technical support and escalation for complex diagnostics and faults
- Deliver hands‑on and structured technical training to engineers across the UK
- Support commissioning, optimisation, and performance improvement of pumping equipment
- Contribute to technical standards, best practice, and continuous improvement initiatives
- Liaise with internal teams, depots, and suppliers to support operational objectives
About You
- Strong background in diesel engineering and pumping systems
- Experience supporting, mentoring, or leading engineers
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills
- Confident communicator with a practical, hands‑on approach
- Engineering qualification essential
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel nationwide
Desirable
- Experience with pumps, dewatering, or hire industry equipment
- Previous experience in a Senior Engineer, Lead Engineer, or Technical Specialist role
- Exposure to training delivery or technical leadership
