A well-established and award-winning civil engineering and surfacing contractor is looking to appoint an experienced Senior Estimator to support its continued growth across highways, infrastructure, surfacing and groundworks projects. The Role
Reporting into the senior leadership team, you will be responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for a wide range of highways, surfacing, infrastructure and civil engineering projects. Key responsibilities include:
- Preparing detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
- Reviewing drawings, specifications and contract documentation
- Producing competitive and commercially viable bids
- Assessing project risks, opportunities and market conditions
- Liaising with operational, commercial and delivery teams during tender stages
- Obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
- Supporting value engineering and alternative construction methodologies
- Attending pre-tender and client meetings where required
- Managing client relationships throughout the bid process
- Contributing to the ongoing development of estimating systems and processes
About You
To be successful in this role, you will ideally have:
- Previous experience as an Estimator or Senior Estimator within civil engineering, highways, surfacing or groundworks
- Strong commercial awareness and attention to detail
- Experience producing estimates from first principles
- Working knowledge of NEC and JCT forms of contract
- Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
- A proactive and solution-focused approach
- Experience using estimating software and Microsoft Office packages
