The Opportunity
We are recruiting for an experienced Field Sales professional to join a well-established international organisation supplying material handling equipment and solutions to businesses across the Bristol and surrounding South West area. This is a genuine B2B territory sales position, combining the development of existing customer accounts with a strong focus on identifying, approaching and winning new business. You don't necessarily need previous forklift or material handling experience. We are interested in commercially driven field salespeople from capital equipment, plant and machinery, construction equipment, industrial products, engineering or similar B2B environments, with full technical and product training available.
What You'll Be Doing
- Develop and grow relationships with existing customers across your territory
- Identify and target prospective customers and new business opportunities
- Conduct regular face-to-face customer and prospect visits
- Understand customers' operational requirements and recommend suitable equipment solutions
- Carry out customer site surveys to establish equipment requirements
- Prepare detailed commercial proposals and quotations
- Present recommendations and solutions directly to customers
- Negotiate commercial agreements and convert opportunities into orders
- Manage your sales pipeline and maintain regular communication with prospective customers
- Coordinate the administration associated with customer orders
- Develop a strong understanding of your local market, competitors and potential customers
- Build long-term relationships that generate repeat and additional business
What We're Looking For
We are looking for a self-motivated salesperson who is comfortable taking ownership of a geographical territory and enjoys both developing relationships and hunting for new business. You should ideally have:
- Previous B2B field sales experience
- A demonstrable track record of developing and winning business
- Strong commercial awareness
- Confident face-to-face communication and presentation skills
- Good negotiation and closing ability
- The ability to understand customer requirements and build a commercial solution around them
- Strong planning and territory-management skills
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office
- A full UK driving licence
- Previous experience selling material handling equipment, forklifts, plant, machinery, capital equipment, construction equipment or industrial solutions would be particularly relevant, although it is not essential.
