The Brownsword Group has created arguably the most iconic collection of historic countryside and city centre hotels, all wonderful properties set within beautiful grounds and cities, all with their own stories to share. Reporting to the CEO, we are now looking for a Regional General Manager, with great commercial acumen as well as a high-quality hospitality background. We're looking for a commercial leader, a true hospitality professional, and a change agent who knows how to coach and develop people and deliver amazing hospitality consistently whilst achieving commercial goals.
Location: The location for this role is negotiable for the right candidate, although approximately two to three days a week will be required at the iconic Gidleigh Park in East Devon. Regular travel to our hotels will be a key part of this position (you will need your own transport for travel, as some of our locations are in stunning, but remote locations). We will of course cover your travel expenses and you can stay at the properties you visit if needed.
Hours: Full time.
Some key info about what the Regional General Manager does in our business:
- They will hold the role of General Manager at a base hotel, as well as overseeing other hotels within our portfolio across the UK.
- Provide commercial and strategic leadership for their region (approx. 3 hotels but this number may fluctuate), driving the business strategy in all areas.
- Drive sales and revenue, balancing costs against these so that we meet our business targets.
- Be charismatic, engaging and people-centric - they will always know what's going on within their properties.
- Have good commercial skills and awareness - making decisions that make sound business sense.
- Always analysing and managing hotel PnL's to success.
- Helping to promote the people culture of the business within their properties with engaging and committed communication.
- Working well with the central support teams, implementing group strategies whilst also driving local activity to make each hotel great.
- Always communicating. Our Regional and Hotel General Managers meet at least twice a year in person and also have fortnightly calls - so there is always an opportunity to ask questions, get support and find out what is going on across the business.

- Has a proven track record of leading commercially successful businesses within hospitality.
- Has an extensive quality hotel background, and is a seasoned professional who has industry standing.
- Due to the nature of the properties they will oversee, the successful candidate will have experience of running successful 5 AA Red Star hotels, or equivalent (some of our properties are also part of Relais and Chateaux).
