Reporting to and working closely with the Finance Director, this role is key to ensuring the finance function runs smoothly and efficiently at the hotels in your remit. The Finance Controller will be responsible for ensuring financial integrity in all activities at the Canterbury Abode Hotel and supporting the General Manager in achieving financial objectives, maintaining compliance and supporting overall business goals. This is a hands-on, commercially focused finance position where you will manage the day-to-day financial operations, reporting and compliance. You will be the on-the-ground finance support in Canterbury but will also work closely with other Regional Financial Controllers and receive support from the group finance team.

  • Supporting budgeting and rolling forecast processes
  • Producing monthly financial reporting and variance analysis
  • Completing month-end reporting packs including P&L, balance sheet and revenue reports
  • Reconciling daily revenues to bank deposits
  • Managing local accounts payable via the purchase ordering system and accounts receivable processes to ensure accuracy and timely processing
  • Monitoring debtors and creditors to maintain healthy cash flow
  • Reviewing costs and highlighting opportunities for improved efficiencies
  • Supporting payroll cost control alongside hotel management
  • Assisting with audit preparation and compliance requirements
  • Collaborating with department heads to provide meaningful financial insight
  • Supporting ad hoc projects and financial analysis as required
  • Occasional travel within the hotel cluster may be required to support audits, financial reviews and attend meetings

Qualifications and Experience

  • Experience within a finance role in hotels and/or hospitality
  • Strong attention to detail and good sense of initiative, able to work independently
  • Confidence working with operational managers
  • Good understanding of budgeting, forecasting and financial reporting
  • A proactive and organized approach
  • Strong IT skills and experience using finance and hotel management systems, particularly Opera
  • Collaborative mindset with a genuine interest in supporting operational teams to drive performance
