With 4 AA red stars, 3 AA rosettes, and a member of Relais & Châteaux, Buckland Manor offers employees the opportunity to work within a traditional, yet friendly English country house hotel.
Service charge – we pay our team service charge each month!
This service charge all goes into one pot, and 100% of that service charge is then shared amongst all the team at the hotel – every penny received is paid out to the team.
Service charge can be in the region of £305 a month (around £3,600 per year) over and above base pay, for a full time employee.
The hotel may be able to offer on-site staff accommodation in order to help the newest members of the team settle into life at the hotel and local area, plus free parking is available on-site.

The Role
As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will support the Restaurant Manager in the day-to-day operation of the restaurant, ensuring every guest receives warm, knowledgeable, and attentive service.
You will lead by example, inspire the front-of-house team, and help create memorable dining experiences that exceed expectations.
You will play an important role in developing the team's knowledge of food, wines, spirits, and service standards while helping to drive revenue through confident recommendations and exceptional hospitality.
Key Responsibilities
- Support the Restaurant Manager with the daily operation of the restaurant and bar.
- Deliver exceptional guest service in line with Relais & Châteaux standards.
- Lead, motivate, and develop the front-of-house team.
- Maintain consistently high standards of service and attention to detail.
- Confidently advise guests on menus, wine pairings, spirits, cocktails, and beverages.
- Assist with staff training, coaching, and performance development.
- Support stock management, ordering, and beverage control.
- Ensure all health, safety, licensing, and food hygiene standards are maintained.
- Help maximise restaurant and beverage revenue through excellent product knowledge and upselling.
- Work closely with the Head Chef and kitchen brigade to deliver a seamless dining experience.
About You
We're looking for someone who has
- Experience in a quality restaurant or luxury hotel, ideally within an AA Rosette or Michelin-standard environment.
- Previous supervisory or management experience within food and beverage.
- A genuine passion for outstanding hospitality.
- Excellent knowledge of food, wine, spirits, and guest service.
- Confidence in recommending wines and beverages to complement seasonal menus.
- Strong leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
- A calm and professional approach in a busy service environment.
- A desire to develop both personally and professionally.
Wine qualifications such as WSET are advantageous but not essential.
