Andrew & Andrew Solicitors is a highly regarded, well established Practice. The main office is at Portsmouth with satellite offices in Emsworth and Wickham. We specialise in residential conveyancing, wills and probate, personal injury and civil litigation to include contested probate and we have a newly opened family law department.
We are currently seeking an experienced Legal Accounts Assistant to join our friendly Accounts team of 3 supporting the day to day running of a busy solicitor practice. As the Legal Accounts Assistant you will be working to a high level of accuracy, often under pressure and/or time constraints.
Legal Accounts Assistant Responsibilities:
- Processing entries into the firm’s accounts systems
- Reconciling client and office bank accounts daily
- Checking and processing bills
- Liaising with lawyers to ensure accurate financial transactions
- Managing client payments for invoices and resolving related queries
- Supporting colleagues within the accounts team and providing cover during absences
- Ability to prioritise work due to the ever-changing work flows.
This can, at times, be a demanding and fast paced role.
Qualifications and personal attributes:
- Essential – minimum 3+ years in an Accounts role (in a legal field desirable)
- AAT Accounting Level 4 or equivalent
- 2 x A Level or equivalent, preferably in a relevant subject
- Confident in using Office applications; Microsoft Excel and Word
- Knowledge of Solicitors Accounts Rules
- Strong organisational skills and communication
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy

Working hours: Monday to Friday 8.30 am to 5.00 pm 5 days a week with one hour for lunch.
Work location: Unfortunately, we are unable to offer hybrid or part-time for this role, due to the nature of the work. Place of work: Portsmouth Office.
