The Quality Control Technician is responsible for ensuring that products manufactured on site meet the required quality standards, specifications, and customer requirements. The role is primarily shopfloor-based and focuses on inspection, testing, and monitoring of production activities to ensure compliance with company procedures and quality standards. The successful candidate will work closely with Production, Engineering, and the Quality Engineer to identify issues early, support containment actions, and contribute to continuous improvement of manufacturing processes. The role requires a practical, detail-focused individual who is comfortable working in a manufacturing environment and who can communicate effectively with production teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Product Inspection
    • Perform incoming, in-process and final inspections of components and finished products.
    • Verify products meet drawings, specifications and quality requirements.
    • Carry out dimensional inspections using appropriate measuring equipment (e.g. callipers, tape measure, gauges).
    • Record inspection results accurately and maintain inspection documentation.
  • Production Quality Support
    • Provide shopfloor quality support to production teams.
    • Identify and report quality issues during manufacturing.
    • Assist with containment activities for non-conforming products.
    • Support production teams in understanding quality requirements and standards.
  • Non-Conformance Handling
    • Raise and document non-conformance reports where required.
    • Support investigation of quality issues together with the Quality Engineer.
    • Assist with segregation and control of non-conforming material.
  • Documentation and Records
    • Maintain accurate inspection records and quality documentation.
    • Ensure traceability and correct documentation of inspected materials and products.
    • Support maintenance of quality logs and inspection reports.
  • Continuous Improvement
    • Identify opportunities for improving inspection processes and production quality.
    • Provide feedback to engineering and production teams on recurring quality issues.
    • Support implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
  • Equipment and Calibration
    • Use inspection tools and equipment correctly and maintain them in good condition.
    • Support calibration checks and proper storage of measuring equipment.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration
    • Work closely with Production, Engineering, and Quality teams.
    • Support internal audits and quality improvement initiatives when required.
Skills And Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a manufacturing or production quality environment.
  • Experience with product inspection and measuring equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and tolerances.
  • Strong attention to detail and a methodical approach to work.
  • Understanding of document control and record‑keeping requirements.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Good communication skills when interacting with shopfloor staff and engineers.
  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office or similar systems).
Desirable Skills
  • Root cause analysis techniques (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone/Ishikawa).
  • Experience working within an ISO 9001 quality management system.
  • Familiarity with non-conformance reporting processes.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement or Lean manufacturing principles.
