Job Summary
The Engineering Technician will support the design, development, testing, and validation of antenna and RF components. This role involves hands‑on assembly, measurement, outdoor testing, and close collaboration with design engineers to ensure high-quality technical outcomes. The position requires strong technical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely in outdoor and high‑access environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Set up, calibrate, and perform measurements using electrical and RF test equipment, including Vector Network Analysers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
- Assemble and test prototype and production components in accordance with engineering drawings and installation bulletins.
- Install and test antennas on outdoor test ranges, working safely at heights of up to 25 metres.
- Collect and present measurement data in a scientific and repeatable manner to assess antenna and component performance.
- Liaise closely with design engineers to receive predicted results, measurement techniques, project requirements, and technical direction.
- Maintain and update computer‑based measurement databases to ensure accessibility to test results and reports for departmental personnel.
- Design, construct, and utilise basic mechanical test fixtures to improve efficiency and accuracy of measurements.
- Produce clear and concise technical reports documenting device performance parameters for internal stakeholders and other Andrew entities.
- Attend project and technical review meetings to communicate results, findings, and specifications to the design team.
Skills And Competencies Required
- Working knowledge of PC-based software packages, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience with 3D CAD software, such as SolidWorks.
- Familiarity with at least one programming or scripting language.
- Demonstrated capability in operating RF and electrical test equipment, including Vector Network Analysers, oscilloscopes, and multimeters.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with a methodical approach to testing and measurement.
- Physical fitness and confidence to work outdoors at height throughout the year in varying weather conditions.
Key Attributes
- Highly self‑motivated, with the ability to independently diagnose and resolve test issues, minimising downtime and maximising efficiency.
- Clear and effective communicator, able to relay test results, issues, and technical findings to the design engineering team.
Additional Attributes
