We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Quality Engineer (PPAP Specialist) to join a leading manufacturer of plastic parts. This is an exciting opportunity to work with a global leader in the design, manufacture, and supply of innovative plastic solutions for residential, commercial, and industrial markets. The successful candidate will play a key role in implementing and managing PPAP activities across the company, ensuring compliance with customer and industry standards.
Responsibilities
- Leading and managing PPAP submissions for new product introductions (NPI), engineering changes, and supplier parts, ensuring compliance with customer and AIAG requirements.
- Preparing, reviewing, and approving PPAP documents, including Process Flow Diagrams, PFMEA, Control Plans, dimensional layouts, material certificates, MSA, and capability studies.
- Maintaining PPAP records and managing customer communications, including tracking approval status, responding to feedback, and ensuring documentation is up to date.
- Acting as the primary quality contact and customer interface for assigned projects.
- Promoting and driving tasks towards successful PPAP submissions.
- Supporting customer and internal meetings to share development status and report customer requirements.
- Collaborating with internal departments (Sales, QA, Engineering, and Production) to ensure project elements are completed within agreed timescales.
- Developing, writing, and enhancing processes, plans, and procedures in collaboration with Quality Management.
- Interpreting and communicating customer requirements within the business.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding and ability to work with technical drawings, including dimensionally measuring parts using Non-Contact or Contact measurement equipment.
- In-depth knowledge of APQP/PPAP and associated tools.
- Expertise in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Experience in preparing Control Plans, FMEAs, and all relevant PPAP documentation.
- Experience in preparing PPAP/APQP documentation (preferred).
- Working knowledge of IATF 16949 or ISO9001 requirements.
- Excellent reporting and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
Day-to-Day
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure PPAP requirements are met.
- Prepare and review technical documentation to support PPAP submissions.
- Communicate with customers to address feedback and ensure satisfaction.
- Attend internal and external meetings to provide updates on project progress.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation for all PPAP activities.
- Support the development and enhancement of quality processes and procedures.
