Responsibilities

  • Planning and executing work to meet production schedules and deadlines.
  • Manufacturing tools based on design specifications and standards.
  • Using precision tools such as micrometres, verniers, and gauges.
  • Repairing, maintaining, and enhancing mould and press tooling.
  • Conducting evaluations of repair jobs to ensure tools meet operational standards.
  • Operating manual machinery, such as mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM sinkers.
  • Performing benchwork and keeping tooling systems in good working condition.
  • Adhering to Health and Safety regulations.
  • Reporting any equipment issues to the line manager for resolution.

Qualifications

  • Relevant engineering qualification or a time-served apprenticeship.
  • Current Abrasive Wheels Regulations certification.
  • Familiarity with hot runner systems, unscrewing mould tools, and progression strip tools.
  • Laser welding experience (desirable but not mandatory).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and computer literacy for operational duties.
  • A strong mechanical aptitude, coupled with a proactive mindset towards learning and skills development.

Day-to-Day

  • Inspection and testing of tools to ensure they meet technical specifications.
  • Collaboration with team members to troubleshoot and resolve issues.
  • Management of multiple concurrent tasks while effectively addressing challenges.
