We are looking for a Production Engineer on a permanent basis in the Berkshire area with experience with Mechanical products. You will be accountable for NPI projects as well as CI and the use of Lean Manufacturing methodologies.
The Production Engineer will ideally have the following attributes:
- Mechanical/Manufacturing degree or equivalent work-based experience
- Ability to understand engineering instructions, processes, and drawings
- 3 plus years working in Manufacturing
- Experience of Lean Manufacturing & six sigma beneficial
- Proactive in approach to customers & suppliers & areas to improve efficiency
- Ability to lead technical meetings & discussions with customers
- Thrives under pressure & the will to succeed
- Ability / robustness to self-prioritise workload in a NPI environment
- Takes responsibility for ownership of issues and problems providing effective practical solutions
The Production Engineer role will involve:
- Maintain & improve existing products in regards to Manufacturing processes, including build to print BOM's
- Creating/ updating work instructions, process sheets, testing/validation plans
- Design & arranging manufacture of jigs, fixtures, and test rigs
- Processing ECR's and producing corrective actions
- Support business improvement with lean techniques e.g. PFMEA, FMEA
- Deliver continuous improvement, operational excellence, and Lean improvements
- Root cause analysis and problem-solving techniques (8D, 5WHY, Fishbone)
- Maintain H&S risk assessments for current & new processes
- Liaise with customers, suppliers, and other departments with ongoing engineering issues
