**Instructor (paddocks) – Animal Health and Welfare Research Centre (AHWRC)**Salary: Up to £28,167 per annum (dependent upon qualifications, skills and experience)Working Pattern: Full-time (37 hours per week, 52 weeks per year)Contract: PermanentLocation: Sparsholt Campus, HampshireClosing Date: **28th September 2026**Interview Date: 8th October 2026 **We looking to recruit enthusiastic and passionate individuals to join our Animal management team.**The AHWRC is a leading practical teaching facility that houses a large range of both domestic and exotic animal species. The centre holds a number of industry recognised licenses to uphold high standards of care, including a zoo licence, BIAZA accreditation, Pet shop licence and a 5\\* professional boarding kennel licence.**About the role:** You will be expected to deliver exceptional practical teaching using a range of animal taxa, as well as contributing to the daily husbandry of the section you are working on. You will be teaching differing levels of students (Level 1-Level 3) and also students with varying abilities. Experience working with and understanding students with EHCP’s is desirable.You will teach and assess animal husbandry to groups of students across all sections of the AHWRC. Sections include cats & dogs, small mammals, zoo mammals, birds, paddock animals & herptiles but you will be primarily based on the paddock section. The paddock section houses goats, alpaca, zebu and rhea. We are looking to expand this section and bring in an ovis species.This is an exciting opportunity to develop your cross taxa animal husbandry skills and educate the next generation of animal careers. As an instructor you will also have input into species collection planning, enclosure design, department development and animal husbandry.**About you:** Candidates should be able to demonstrate significant professional experience working with a range of animals as well as a real passion and enthusiasm for animals and helping all learners to reach their maximum potential. The ability to communicate effectively is a key aspect of this role.Candidates should be educated to at least level 3 in a relevant qualification e.g. Animal Management. The post holder will hold an appropriate teaching qualification or be willing to attain one.
