A high-growth, Private Equity-backed insurance brokerage is seeking an Interim Head of Corporate Development / M&A to lead its acquisition strategy during a key phase of expansion. This is a hands-on, strategic role ideal for an experienced M&A professional who can hit the ground running and drive immediate impact. The initial term is 3–6 months, with the potential to convert into a permanent position, subject to market conditions and business performance.
The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of the M&A lifecycle—from sourcing and diligence to deal execution and integration—working closely with the CEO, senior leadership team, and Private Equity sponsor.
Key Responsibilities:- Take ownership of the group’s M&A pipeline, with responsibility for origination, assessment, and execution of acquisition opportunities.
- Conduct financial modelling, commercial due diligence, and investment analysis to support deal decisions.
- Build relationships with brokers, intermediaries, and potential sellers to proactively generate deal flow.
- Lead negotiations, manage advisers, and coordinate internal resources across finance, legal, and operations.
- Ensure seamless integration of acquired businesses, working closely with internal teams to deliver synergies and value.
- Provide regular reporting and updates to the CEO and Private Equity sponsor on pipeline progress and market activity.
- Support strategic reviews and help refine the longer-term buy-and-build strategy as required.
- A highly experienced M&A or Corporate Development professional with a strong track record of delivering deals, ideally in insurance, energy or financial services.
- Background in Private Equity portfolio companies, investment banking, or professional services (e.g. Big 4 Transaction Services).
- Commercially minded, financially literate, and comfortable operating autonomously in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
- Strong communicator with the ability to build trust and credibility quickly with senior stakeholders and business owners.
- Immediately available or available at short notice.
