We’re looking for an experienced, knowledgeable gear person to join our E-commerce team. This isn’t a “guitar copywriter” role. It’s not entry‑level. We need someone who can jump from pickup voicings and pedal topologies to analogue synth architecture, studio signal flow, DSP, live sound rigs — and actually understand what they’re talking about. If you know your way around guitars and can explain why one audio interface’s preamps behave differently from another’s, we’re listening.
You’ll sit across multiple categories including:
- Guitars, Amps & Pedals
- Synths & Keyboards
- Recording & Studio
- Live Sound & PA
What You’ll Actually Be Doing
- Writing that makes people want the gear
- Creating punchy, accurate, commercially effective product listings
- Translating dense manufacturer specs into proper Andertons‑style copy
- Writing launch content for big new releases
- Raising the overall standard of product content across the site
We don’t want rewritten spec sheets. We want clarity, authority and enthusiasm … without fluff.
Owning Categories (Not Just Uploading Products)
- Helping shape how categories are structured and merchandised
- Maintaining large product catalogues accurately and efficiently
- Working with Purchasing & Marketing to align content with campaigns
- Supporting sales events and major promotions on‑site
This is about commercial impact, not just administration.
SEO & Long‑Form Content
- Writing buyers’ guides, comparisons and educational blogs
- Creating landing pages that actually rank and convert
- Supporting the organic growth of the site with genuinely useful content
Supporting the Wider Team
- Helping Sales with fast, accurate website updates
- Communicating clearly with suppliers about product information
- Working cross‑functionally with Marketing and Purchasing
What We’re Looking For
Deep, Cross‑Category Gear Knowledge (Non‑Negotiable): You must have solid working knowledge across multiple areas, including:
- Guitars, amps & pedals
- Synths & keyboards
- Recording & studio equipment
- PA & live sound
You should be able to:
- Explain how something works, not just what it does
- Compare competing products with authority
- Spot when manufacturer specs don’t quite add up
- Describe sonic character in a way musicians actually understand
This is not “I’ve owned one.” It’s “I understand the architecture, the use‑case, and the alternatives.”
Digital & Commercial Awareness
You’ll also be:
- Highly digitally literate
- Comfortable in CMS and E‑commerce systems
- Detail‑obsessed (formatting, grammar, data accuracy)
- Commercially aware: You understand content is there to convert
- Fast, organised, and calm under pressure
Experience We Expect
- 3+ years in E‑commerce, digital content or digital marketing
- Strong SEO content experience
- Proven ability to write high‑quality copy at pace
- Excellent time management and prioritisation
- Comfortable working in a fast‑moving retail environment
Bonus Points
- HTML knowledge
- On‑site merchandising experience
- Experience in MI retail
- Degree‑level qualification
What This Role Isn’t
It’s not entry‑level. It’s not single category. It’s not “upload and forget.” It’s a senior content role for someone who knows their gear, thinks commercially, and wants to help shape how one of the UK’s leading MI retailers presents itself online.
If that’s you … let’s talk.
