CAD DESIGN ENGINEER – CONGLETON

Our client is a global leader in engineering and manufacturing, delivering innovative process solutions across a range of industries.

Due to continued growth, they are looking to recruit an experienced

CAD Design Engineer to join their engineering team based in Congleton.

The Role

As a CAD Design Engineer, you will play a key role in the design, development and delivery of mechanical systems for the client's THP installations.

Working as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team, you will be responsible for producing high-quality designs focusing on structural steelwork, pressure vessels and piping systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Produce detailed manufacturing and assembly drawings using Solid Works 3D CAD software.
  • Design pipework, structural steelwork and pressure vessels from engineering calculations and design data.
  • Create and maintain 3D models, assemblies and detailed engineering drawings.
  • Produce Bills of Materials (BOMs), bolting schedules and assembly documentation.
  • Interpret P&ID drawings and develop accurate 3D models and 2D manufacturing drawings.
  • Work closely with Process, Mechanical and Electrical Engineers to deliver fully integrated engineering solutions.
  • Provide technical support to the manufacturing and assembly teams throughout production.
  • Ensure all designs comply with relevant engineering standards, specifications and company procedures.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will have

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in mechanical design.
  • Experience working within process industries such as energy, water treatment, oil & gas, chemical processing or a similar engineering environment.
  • Good knowledge of design codes and standards relating to pressure vessels, piping systems and structural steel.
  • Proficiency in Solid Works 3D CAD (experience with other 3D CAD packages will also be considered).
  • An HNC, HND, Level 3 Diploma or equivalent qualification in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • Strong attention to detail and a proactive approach to problem-solving.
