Our client is an established provider of high-quality children's residential care, committed to creating safe, nurturing and therapeutic environments where children and young people can thrive.

They are looking to appoint an experienced Deputy Manager to support the Registered Manager in the leadership and day-to-day operation of a children's residential home. This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious childcare professional looking to progress their management career while making a genuine difference to the lives of vulnerable children.

Please note: To be considered for this role, you must have at least 2 years' experience working within children's residential care, have experience leading a team including supervising staff, leading shifts and safeguarding, and hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare for England (or equivalent).

The Role

Working alongside the Registered Manager, you will help ensure the home delivers exceptional, child-centred care while maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations and the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting the overall management and leadership of the home.
  • Deputising for the Registered Manager in their absence.
  • Leading, motivating and developing a team of Residential Support Workers.
  • Supervising staff and leading shifts to ensure the delivery of high-quality care.
  • Promoting a nurturing, therapeutic and relationship-based approach to care.
  • Ensuring safeguarding and the welfare of children remain the highest priority.
  • Overseeing care planning, risk assessments, behaviour support plans and accurate record keeping.
  • Monitoring quality standards and driving continuous improvement.
  • Supporting Ofsted inspections, audits and quality assurance processes.
  • Building positive relationships with Local Authorities, social workers, education providers, healthcare professionals and families.

About You

To be successful, you must:

  • Have at least 2 years' experience working within children's residential care.
  • Have experience leading a team, including supervising staff, leading shifts and safeguarding.
  • Hold a minimum Level 3 qualification in Residential Childcare for England (or equivalent).
  • Have strong knowledge of safeguarding legislation and the Children's Homes (England) Regulations 2015.
  • Have experience completing care plans, risk assessments and maintaining high-quality records.
  • Have excellent leadership, communication and organisational skills.
  • Demonstrate a compassionate, resilient and child-focused approach.
  • Hold a full UK driving licence.

Desirable

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership & Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
  • Previous experience as a Deputy Manager or Senior Residential Support Worker.
  • Experience supporting Ofsted inspections.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed and therapeutic practice.
