A vacancy has arisen within our Risk and Compliance team for a talented and motivated compliance analyst to join our team, based in our Edinburgh or Glasgow office. Anderson Strathern is a modern, innovative law firm. We’re proud of our history but firmly focused on an exciting future, one that embraces technology and smarter ways of working. We’re independent, and proudly so. As Investors in People and Investors in Young People Gold award holders, we will provide you with comprehensive training and support.

Our team plays a vital role in supporting the firm’s strategic, regulatory, and operational obligations. We provide clear, commercially aligned guidance across professional practice, enterprise risk, and economic crime compliance. Our approach is proactive, practical, and focused on enabling delivery, not just advising on it.

The role will involve:

  • Supporting the planning, delivery and continuous improvement of the firm’s enterprise risk management approach, embedding proportionate risk identification, assessment, mitigation and assurance across operational and business functions.
  • Ensuring the firm maintains a coherent, usable and well-documented risk framework and risk register, providing high-quality support to the Enterprise Risk Senior Manager to facilitate risk management, decision-making, and strategic planning.
  • Supporting enterprise risk and governance, keeping the governance calendar up to date, and helping to monitor compliance by producing high-quality reports and trend analysis to highlight themes, issues and controls.
  • Demonstrating clear standards and documented controls by supporting the improvement of the firm’s policy framework, coordinating policy owners on reviews and maintenance of policies and management systems.
  • Dealing with supplier/third-party risk management, supporting supplier due diligence, onboarding, performance monitoring and risk assessment.
  • Assisting with lender and supplier panels, including working with internal teams to produce accurate and timely responses.
  • Training, awareness and stakeholder engagement, building relationships across teams, supporting them to understand risk expectations, evidence needs and practical application.
  • Supporting the delivery of broader compliance requirements, generally supporting the organisation, investigation and administrative needs of the risk and compliance team.

This is a partially proactive role, meaning that the role holder will support in identifying key operational risk areas, take responsibility for managing risks, and support business areas in proactive risk management.

As a compliance analyst, you will be expected to:

  • Operate with a degree of proactivity and initiative under the guidance of the Enterprise Risk Senior Manager.
  • Be a pragmatic problem-solver: Look for solutions to problems, presenting options to the Enterprise Risk Senior Manager.
  • Communicate clearly and confidently.
  • Be able to balance multiple priorities effectively.
  • Maintain high professional standards and integrity, acting as a visible ambassador for the firm.

About you:

  • Ability to manage calendars, deadlines and multiple tasks.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.
  • Basic IT literacy (including Microsoft products).
  • Basic understanding of compliance principles.
  • Work well within a team.
  • No specific compliance qualification is required; however, this role would suit someone with a risk management or compliance related qualification.

What you will get in return:

  • Opportunity to work with a market leading team on complex and high-profile transactions.
  • On-going career development and progression opportunities.
  • Supportive and collaborative team culture and work environment.
  • Flexible and hybrid working arrangements to support work-life balance.
  • A competitive salary and benefits package.
