Know Your Numbers

As a Credit Controller, you'll be dealing with numbers all day. Brush up on your bookkeeping skills and be ready to discuss your experience with sales ledgers and invoicing. Be prepared to share specific examples of how you've successfully chased debts or reconciled accounts in the past.

Communication is Key

Since excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential for this role, practice articulating your thoughts clearly. Familiarise Yourself with Xero

If you have experience with Xero or similar accounting software, make sure to highlight it during the interview. If not, take some time to learn the basics before your interview. Being able to demonstrate your willingness to learn new systems can set you apart from other candidates.

Show Your Proactive Side

Employers love candidates who take initiative. Prepare examples of times when you identified a problem and took steps to resolve it, especially in a finance context. This could be anything from improving a process to resolving a customer query efficiently. It shows you're detail-oriented and proactive!
