Our client based in Coleford are currently recruiting for an Environmental Officer to join their team on a permanent basis. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a leading manufacturer who have been operation for more than 130 years.

This position is responsible for monitoring environmental aspects, impacts, risks, opportunities, managing permits, conducting site inspections and audits, as well as implementing waste reduction, pollution prevention, sustainability initiatives, and environmental reporting.

Responsibilities:
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of environmental legislation and advise management and stakeholders on regulatory changes and implications.
  • Prepare and submit required environmental reports, permits, and documentation to regulatory authorities, internal stakeholders and sustainability partners on time.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and internal audits to identify risks, non-compliance, and improvement opportunities.
  • Maintain records of spills, emissions, and other environmental incidents, ensuring appropriate follow-up and reporting.
  • Develop and deliver environmental training programs for staff to raise awareness and ensure compliance as instructed.
  • Collaborate closely with manufacturing, site services, purchasing, quality assurance, and health & safety teams to ensure environmental compliance is integrated into daily operations.
Candidate Attributes:
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of relevant experience in an environmental compliance or sustainability role.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Environmental Engineering or Environmental Health.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organisational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects to deadlines.

Hours: Full time, 37 hours per week

Salary: Competitive - 25 days Annual leave + Bank holidays - Pension - Cycle to Work Scheme - Social Club
