Join a specialist surgery team with ECVS diplomate support. Work across soft tissue and orthopaedic small animal referrals. Enjoy advanced referral practice in a peaceful Hampshire setting. Bring your surgical expertise into a respected 24/7 referral hospital, working alongside ECVS diplomates and a wide multidisciplinary team across soft tissue and orthopaedic cases. This 12‑month contract offers the clinical depth of specialist practice, strong CPD support, established training programmes, and the calm of a countryside setting close to Winchester and the M3.

Anderson Moores Veterinary Specialists is one of the UK’s leading small animal specialist referral hospitals. Since 2006, our veterinarians, nurses, nursing assistants and administrative teams have worked together to provide high‑quality surgical and medical care for pets referred from across the region. Our hospital brings together nationally and internationally recognised clinicians across Orthopaedic Surgery, Soft Tissue Surgery, Neurology & Neurosurgery, Internal Medicine, Dentistry, Cardiology, Anaesthesia, Diagnostic Imaging, Oncology, Dermatology, Ophthalmology and Physiotherapy. You will be joining an established referral environment with state‑of‑the‑art facilities, a strong multidisciplinary culture, 24/7 patient care and comprehensive clinical and non‑clinical programmes for training, development and CPD.

This is a 12‑month fixed‑term contract, commencing around 3 July 2026, to cover equal family leave within our surgery team. You will work alongside three ECVS diplomates as part of our small‑animal surgery referral service, with a caseload spanning soft‑tissue and orthopaedic surgery. You will also be part of a wider team of around 40 referral clinicians, giving you the opportunity to collaborate across disciplines and contribute to thoughtful, joined‑up patient care. The role includes participation in our week‑night and weekend out‑of‑hours service, supporting continuity of care within a hospital that looks after patients 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

You will be a confident, collaborative surgeon who enjoys working within a specialist referral environment and contributing to a high‑performing multidisciplinary team. You will bring sound clinical judgement, clear communication, and a thoughtful approach to both colleagues and referring practices. You will be comfortable managing a surgical referral caseload across soft tissue and orthopaedic surgery, with the professional maturity to contribute to both daytime and out‑of‑hours care. Ideally, you will be a European or American board‑certified surgeon, ECVS or ACVS. We will also consider candidates who have completed an ECVS or ACVS accredited residency.

You will find us in Hampshire, just south of Winchester, in a peaceful countryside setting with excellent transport connections. The hospital is close to the M3 and within reach of national and international transport links, giving you the benefit of a calm rural working environment without feeling disconnected. Winchester offers historic charm, strong amenities and easy access to the wider South of England, making this an appealing base for a 12‑month specialist role.

This fixed‑term opportunity is supported by a comprehensive benefits package, including:

  • 5 weeks holiday plus bank holidays and birthday leave (pro‑rata)
  • RCVS and VDS fees paid
  • External CPD funding
  • Extensive free online Linnaeus CPD programme
  • Career progression opportunities
