Anderson Knight is working with a leading business based in the West Midlands. Our Client is seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a background in utilities, civil engineering, or construction to support multiple live projects across the business. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring robust commercial and cost management processes are maintained throughout the project lifecycle.

Reporting directly to the Commercial Director, you will be responsible for maximising project profitability, managing commercial risk, and maintaining strong relationships with clients, subcontractors, and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide commercial expertise across designated projects to maximise financial returns
  • Produce accurate monthly cost and value forecasts for all projects
  • Manage and administer change control processes effectively
  • Liaise with clients and external stakeholders regarding:
    • Variations
    • Claims
    • Applications and payments
    • Contractual matters
  • Support contract administration and ensure compliance with contractual obligations
  • Implement and maintain effective commercial processes across the business
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with internal teams and external partners
  • Monitor project performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability
  • Minimise commercial risk through the application of best practice
  • Ensure positive project cash flow is maintained at all times
  • Assist with procurement and subcontractor management where required
  • Prepare and present commercial reports to senior management
Skills & Experience Required
  • Previous experience in a Quantity Surveyor role within utilities, civils, infrastructure, or construction
  • Strong understanding of commercial management and contract administration
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Knowledge of standard forms of contract (NEC preferred)
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills
  • Excellent analytical and financial management abilities
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and commercial reporting tools
Qualifications
  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline
  • Membership of RICS or working towards chartership desirable
  • Full UK driving licence preferred
