We are partnering with a large, well-established organisation to recruit a Senior HR Adviser to join a busy operational site. This is a key role within the wider People function, supporting day-to-day HR delivery while also contributing to broader people initiatives that drive performance, engagement, and culture. This is a highly visible, hands-on position where you will work closely with site leaders and managers to provide practical HR support and help shape a positive, high-performing working environment. The role offers hybrid working, with 1–2 days per week from home, along with the option to work a four-day week arrangement.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Build strong, trusted relationships with operational leaders to understand priorities and support delivery of the people agenda.
- Act as a first point of contact for managers, providing clear and pragmatic HR advice across a broad range of people matters.
- Manage and support employee relations cases including absence, conduct, grievance and performance issues, ensuring fair and consistent outcomes.
- Analyse HR data and people metrics to identify trends, risks and opportunities for improvement.
- Coach and support managers in developing effective people management capability.
- Support workforce planning activity and organisational change within operational teams.
- Contribute to employee engagement initiatives and help foster a positive and inclusive workplace culture.
- Work collaboratively with employee representatives and support consultation processes where required.
- Support recruitment activity, including workforce planning and talent pipeline development.
- Ensure performance management processes are embedded effectively and completed within required timelines.
- Contribute to HR projects and continuous improvement activity across the site and wider organisation.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of employment legislation and ensure compliance across all HR activity.
Essential Criteria
- Proven experience in a generalist HR role within a fast-paced operational environment.
- Strong working knowledge of core HR disciplines including employee relations, performance management, engagement and workforce planning.
- Confident managing employee relations casework and advising managers on complex and sensitive issues.
- Ability to interpret HR data and use insight to support practical decision-making.
- Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to challenge constructively at all levels.
- Highly organised, proactive and able to manage a varied workload effectively.
Desirable Criteria
- CIPD qualified or working towards.
- Experience within a unionised environment.
- Exposure to learning and development or talent initiatives.
- Familiarity with HR systems and reporting tools.
