An established organisation based in Glasgow is seeking an experienced IT Project Manager to lead a significant business-critical systems migration and transformation project on a contract basis.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled project professional to take ownership of a large-scale technology implementation, guiding the organisation through the transition from its current platform to a new technology solution.
The successful candidate will oversee the full project lifecycle, from planning and solution selection through to implementation, data migration, testing, go-live and post-implementation support.
The Role
Working closely with senior stakeholders, internal teams and external technology providers, you will provide the leadership, governance and structure required to deliver a successful migration programme.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery of a major systems migration and implementation project.
- Develop and maintain detailed project plans, timelines, milestones, resource requirements and dependencies.
- Support the assessment and selection of technology solutions and third-party vendors.
- Manage relationships with external suppliers to ensure agreed deliverables, timescales and project objectives are achieved.
- Coordinate integrations between new and existing business systems.
- Oversee data migration activities, system testing, user acceptance testing (UAT) and cutover planning.
- Ensure effective contingency planning and minimise operational disruption throughout the transition.
- Maintain project governance documentation including RAID logs, risk registers, budgets and status reports.
- Facilitate project meetings and steering groups, providing regular progress updates to key stakeholders.
- Identify and mitigate project risks, issues and dependencies.
- Work collaboratively across multiple business functions including Technology, Finance, Operations and Commercial teams.
- Support successful go-live, stabilisation activities and post-implementation review.
About You
We are keen to hear from experienced Project Managers who have successfully delivered technology transformation, platform migration or systems implementation projects.
You will demonstrate
- Proven experience managing complex technology projects from initiation through to successful delivery.
- Previous involvement in systems migrations, platform implementations or digital transformation programmes.
- Strong understanding of data migration, integrations, APIs, testing and UAT processes.
- Experience managing third-party suppliers and technology vendors.
- Strong project planning, governance, reporting and risk management skills.
- Confidence engaging with senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
- The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.
- A practical, solutions-focused approach with strong problem-solving capabilities.
- Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Experience working with recognised project delivery methodologies such as PRINCE2, Agile or similar frameworks.
- Formal project management certifications are welcomed but demonstrable delivery experience is considered equally valuable.
