The Opportunity

An established and highly respected transport and services organisation is seeking an experienced Finance Manager to lead financial control and reporting across a multi‑brand operation with revenues in excess of £60m per annum.

Reporting to the Head of Finance, this is a senior hands‑on role with responsibility for statutory reporting, monthly management accounts, audit, VAT, cashflow and team leadership. The position offers excellent exposure to group finance, senior stakeholders and continuous improvement initiatives within a complex, high‑volume environment.

Key Responsibilities

As Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:

  • Full ownership of monthly P&L reporting and period‑end close
  • Preparation of annual statutory accounts in line with group reporting deadlines
  • Balance sheet reconciliations and journal postings
  • Leading and coordinating the annual external audit
  • Ensuring compliance with IFRS and relevant accounting regulations
  • Oversight of revenue recognition and cost accounting, including liaison with public sector bodies for concessionary revenue
  • Cashflow management and coordination of payment runs
  • Preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns
  • Driving continuous improvement in financial controls, processes and systems
  • Providing ad hoc financial analysis to senior management and group finance
  • Line management and development of two finance team members

Skills, Experience & Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Proven experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or similar senior finance role
  • Fully qualified accountant (ICAS, ACCA, ACA or CIMA)
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge with practical application experience
  • Excellent attention to detail and high standards of accuracy
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict reporting deadlines
  • A proactive, organised and methodical approach to workload management
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving and decision‑making skills
  • Experience with management reporting and financial analysis
  • People management experience, with a collaborative leadership style
  • Experience using accounting systems (Oracle or SAP advantageous, but not essential)

Working Pattern

  • 38 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Hybrid working – 3 days per week in the Glasgow office
