An exciting opportunity has become available for a Finance Assistant to join a well-established construction company based in Motherwell. If you have a keen eye for detail and enjoy working in a fast-paced environment, this could be the perfect role for you. In the role of Finance Assistant, you will play a key part in the day-to-day financial operations of a dynamic and growing business.

About the Role:

This role is ideal for someone with strong organisational skills, a good understanding of financial processes, and the ability to meet tight deadlines. Working in a fully office-based environment, you will support the finance team by assisting with key administrative tasks, including payment runs, reconciliations, and managing financial systems. Knowledge of VAT and CIS tax is an advantage, but full training can be provided for the right candidate.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Add new contracts, suppliers, sub-contractors, and operatives to the finance system.
  • Process weekly sub-contractor payment runs and carry out IR35 checks.
  • Input overhead invoices and petty cash transactions.
  • Process credit applications for new suppliers and manage retention releases.
  • Respond to inquiries from credit control and finance teams.
  • Carry out general credit control duties.

Monthly:

  • Reconcile credit card transactions and petty cash.
  • Perform CIS reconciliations and process supplier payment runs.
  • Handle overhead re-charge journals and assist with month-end procedures.

Ongoing / Ad-hoc:

  • Perform VAT checks for proforma payments.
  • Assist with web expenses claims (holiday cover) and provide ad-hoc administrative support.

Personal Competencies:

  • Strong attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Excel and comfortable using finance systems.
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to meet multiple deadlines.
