Job Description

Anderson Knight is currently working with a leading UK Infrastucture business to appoint an Environmental Advisor working alongside the HSEQ Management Team.

The Environmental Advisor will support the delivery and continuous improvement of the company’s environmental management system and ensure compliance with relevant environmental legislation, industry best practices, and corporate sustainability goals. This role works closely with HSE colleagues and operational teams to integrate environmental considerations into business activities.

Key Responsibilities:

•\\tProvide specialist advice and support on environmental matters to internal stakeholders.

•\\tEnsure compliance with applicable environmental legislation, permits, and company policies.

•\\tLead or assist in the development, implementation, and review of the Environmental Management System (EMS) in line with ISO 14001.

•\\tMonitor environmental performance indicators and report findings to the HSE Manager and leadership team.

•\\tConduct site inspections, audits, and assessments to identify environmental risks and opportunities for improvement.

•\\tCoordinate environmental monitoring activities (e.g., air quality, noise, water discharge, waste).

•\\tSupport the investigation of environmental incidents and near-misses; identify root causes and implement corrective actions.

•\\tDevelop and deliver training and awareness programs on environmental topics.

•\\tContribute to the development and achievement of sustainability and net-zero carbon targets.

•\\tLiaise with regulatory bodies, external auditors, and contractors as needed.

•\\tAssist in preparing and submitting environmental reports and documentation to authorities.

Requirements:

•\\tDegree in Environmental Science, Environmental Management, or related discipline.

•\\tKnowledge of environmental legislation, including permits, compliance, and reporting requirements.

•\\tExperience working in an environmental advisory role within an HSE or operational team.

•\\tFamiliarity with ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems.

•\\tStrong communication, interpersonal, and influencing skills.

•\\tAbility to analyze and interpret environmental data.

Desirable:

•\\tMembership of a relevant professional body (e.g., IEMA, CIWEM).

•\\tExperience in environmental impact assessment (EIA), sustainability reporting, or carbon management.

•\\tKnowledge of other HSE disciplines (health & safety, sustainability).
