We are excited to be recruiting for a newly created Buyer position within a growing utilities business based in Coventry. This is an excellent opportunity for a commercially minded procurement professional to play a key role in shaping and developing purchasing processes within a dynamic and evolving organisation.

As Buyer, you will be responsible for managing supplier relationships, driving cost efficiencies, and ensuring the timely procurement of goods and services critical to operational success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Manage end-to-end procurement activities across a range of categories, including materials, services, and subcontractor support
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with new and existing suppliers
  • Negotiate pricing, contracts, and service level agreements to deliver best value
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities and drive continuous improvement initiatives
  • Support the development and implementation of procurement strategies and policies
  • Monitor supplier performance, ensuring quality, compliance, and delivery standards are met
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders across operations, finance, and project teams
  • Maintain accurate procurement records and reporting
About You
  • Proven experience in a Buyer / Procurement role (utilities, infrastructure, construction, or engineering sectors desirable)
  • Strong negotiation and supplier management skills
  • Commercially astute with a focus on cost control and value creation
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement abilities
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities
  • Experience using procurement or ERP systems
  • CIPS qualification (or working towards) would be advantageous
