Anderson Commercials and Vehicle Specialists are a well-established family run business with over 30 years trading. We specialise in all aspects of vehicle maintenance, diagnostics and can carry out all classes of vehicle MOTs. Our well-equipped workshops are capable of taking all vehicles from motorcycles, cars, light commercials, heavy goods vehicles and trailers.
Our other services also include vehicle breakdown and recovery operated by a dedicated team of recovery specialists with a fleet of recovery units from fully equipped single car units, multi car transporters and heavy goods recovery units. Our workshops are based on our multi-site operation in Ellistown, South Leicestershire.
The Role: Working from our fast paced Ellistown workshops we are looking for a fully competent technician who is self sufficient; you will be responsible for inspecting, repairing and maintaining a range of heavy goods vehicles and trailer units. You will be working on a range of different manufactures on a daily basis and preparing vehicles to the highest standard.
Daily duties will include:
- Carry out routine inspections, maintenance and repairs on all makes of vehicles and trailers to VOSA standards.
- Diagnose, check and set mechanical systems.
- Set up accessories and specific equipment on the vehicles.
- As required, attend to disabled vehicles at the roadside or on customers' premises.
- Provide technical advice to customers and colleagues.
- Carry out work on the vehicle's electrical system and use information from the wiring diagrams and manuals for electrical components.
- Liaise with parts department to request and obtain parts in a timely manner.
- Ensure all job cards, service sheets and inspection sheets are completed clearly and correctly for the work completed.
- Maintain a thorough and current product knowledge and attend any training courses provided.
- Have previous knowledge with dealer/3rd party diagnostics equipment.
- Be computer literate.
Requirements:
- HGV Technician qualification NVQ level 3 and or Time Served.
- Class II or I license a preferred but not essential.
Working hours on alternative shifts Monday to Friday 06:00 till 14:00 then 14:00 till 22:00. Alternate Saturdays 06:30 till 12:00. The salary is based on an hourly rate from the above shifts and includes a late shift allowance.
