Groundskeeper – Independent School (Kingston Area)

A well-regarded independent school in South West London is looking for a proactive and experienced Groundskeeper to join their Estates and Sports Grounds team. This is a full-time, all-year-round role working closely with the Head Groundsman to maintain high-quality playing fields, facilities, and equipment that support the school’s wide-ranging sports provision.
What We’re Looking For:
  • Experience working in grounds maintenance, ideally with sports turf or school grounds
  • High standards of upkeep and pride in delivering safe, clean, and well-presented facilities
  • Confidence using grounds equipment such as mowers, tractors, and line markers
  • A proactive approach and flexibility to support fixtures, events, and seasonal needs
  • Good organisational and communication skills
  • A strong understanding of Health & Safety and willingness to follow compliance processes
  • A positive, hands-on attitude with a readiness to assist with occasional school events
Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and maintain sports pitches and grounds to a high standard for school use
  • Assist with horticultural work including weeding, planting, and general maintenance
  • Operate grounds equipment and ensure correct maintenance of machinery
  • Monitor equipment, assist with maintenance tasks, and manage supplies
  • Support school events (including some evenings/weekends with time in lieu)
  • Uphold safety and security procedures across the grounds
