An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer with Building Services to join a growing and forward-thinking building services consultancy. This role will play a key part in shaping the development of our presence across Scotland and the North East, with a particular focus on Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Newcastle.

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Senior or Principal Mechanical Design Engineer with Building Services to join a growing and forward-thinking building services consultancy. This role will play a key part in shaping the development of our presence across Scotland and the North East, with a particular focus on Glasgow, Edinburgh, and Newcastle.
Initially remote, this role will evolve into a hybrid model as we establish our new Glasgow office. Youll be instrumental in driving projects forward while contributing to regional strategy, technical delivery, and business development.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead mechanical design across a variety of building services projects in commercial, education, healthcare, residential, and public sectors
- Oversee the delivery and coordination of work across the Glasgow/Edinburgh and Newcastle regions
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring, and support to junior engineers and regional project teams
- Engage with clients, design teams, and stakeholders to ensure high-quality service delivery
- Review and approve design calculations, specifications, and technical reports
- Contribute to the strategic growth of the business, including support for bid writing and client relationship development
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, legislation, and sustainability goals
- Collaborate across disciplines and contribute to a positive and innovative company culture
About You
- Degree-qualified in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering (or equivalent)
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working toward Chartership
- Proven leadership in project delivery and team coordination
- Strong technical expertise with a practical understanding of HVAC, energy-efficient systems, and sustainable design principles
- Experience using design software such as IES, Hevacomp, Revit, and AutoCAD
- Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently and support growth across multiple locations
