Morson Edge are looking for an experienced Solar Installations Team Leader to join a leading UK commercial and industrial rooftop solar installer. This is a permanent, nationwide position for a proven solar professional who can lead teams on site, maintain high safety and quality standards and ensure projects are delivered efficiently and professionally.

The role operates on a Monday to Thursday working pattern, with nationwide travel and regular overnight stays, typically four nights per week, all expensed.

As a Tier 3 Team Leader, you will take full responsibility for leading Solar PV installation teams on site. You will manage safety, quality assurance and day to day delivery while acting as the key link between site teams, clients and operations. This role requires strong technical capability alongside confident leadership and decision making.

Key responsibilities:
  • Leading solar PV installation teams on commercial and industrial projects
  • Managing site safety, quality and productivity
  • Ensuring works are delivered in line with CPPs, RAMS and project plans
  • Liaising with clients and internal operations teams regarding progress, variations and site issues
  • Carrying out QA checks, snagging reviews and final sign off
  • Ensuring commissioning documentation, photographs and evidence are completed and uploaded
  • Mentoring and developing Tier 1 and Tier 2 installers
  • Delivering toolbox talks and site safety briefings
  • Managing on site pressures, conflict resolution and task delegation
Technical skills and experience:
  • Extensive experience across a range of solar PV system installations
  • Confident installing independently with minimal supervision
  • Strong understanding of panel layout and string design interpretation
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, roof plans and cable routing diagrams
  • In depth knowledge of mounting systems including flat roof, trapezoidal steel and pitched roof systems
  • Ability to square roofs, plan inverter locations and DC cable routes
  • Strong fault finding capability including dead strings, stringing issues and DC underperformance
  • Competent in MC4 crimping and DC cable termination
  • Skilled in multimeter use for DC string testing
  • Good understanding of fire safety requirements for solar PV
  • Working knowledge of SolarEdge or similar systems for on site design adjustments
Safety and compliance:
  • Strong safety record with consistent installation quality
  • Full understanding of CPPs and RAMS with the ability to amend site level RAMS when required
  • Confident carrying out Dynamic Risk Assessments
  • Ability to stop work and manage escalations where required
  • Lead incident reporting and near miss documentation
  • Safe manual handling of solar modules and awkward loads
  • Confident working at height
Leadership and management:
  • Demonstrated leadership capability within solar installation environments
  • Ability to delegate tasks effectively based on team capability
  • Ability to coach and develop Tier 1 and Tier 2 installers
  • Confident delivering contractor only and client facing toolbox talks
  • Professional enforcement of safety and quality standards
IT and reporting:
  • Completion of daily site reports and weekly progress updates
  • Digital upload of forms, photographs and as built documentation
  • Responsible for company vehicle compliance
  • Competent using digital tools including laptops, cloud based forms and Microsoft Office
Candidate requirements:
  • Must meet all Tier 2 competencies
  • Full UK driving licence with access to own vehicle
  • Flexibility to work nationwide with regular overnight stays
  • Professional, organised and confident representing the business on site
Mandatory training and certifications:
  • IPAF
  • CSCS and Working at Height
  • Manual Handling
  • Asbestos Awareness
  • Harness Training
  • First Aid where required
  • Completion of all Elevate Tier 1 modules and competency sign off
