Morson Edge are currently working with a leading multidisciplinary consultancy to recruit an experienced Document Controller to support a major defence infrastructure programme. This is a key position within a long-term, high-profile project environment, where effective document management and information control are critical to successful project delivery. The role is predominantly remote, with candidates considered across the UK, particularly between Glasgow and Plymouth. Northwest-based candidates are preferred, although location is flexible for the right individual.
The Opportunity
We are looking to speak with experienced Document Controllers who can take ownership of project documentation, information management processes and common data environments across complex infrastructure projects. This role will involve working closely with project teams, consultants, subcontractors and stakeholders to ensure documentation is accurately controlled, distributed and maintained in accordance with project requirements, quality standards and security protocols. Given the nature of the programme, previous experience within highly regulated sectors such as defence, nuclear, infrastructure, engineering or construction would be highly advantageous.
Role Overview
You will be responsible for managing project documentation throughout the full project lifecycle, ensuring information is correctly recorded, stored, reviewed and distributed. The successful candidate will play a critical role in maintaining project efficiency, compliance and information integrity across multiple stakeholders and delivery teams.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and maintain project documentation and information management systems
- Ensure accurate document control, version management and audit trails
- Coordinate document submissions, reviews, approvals and distributions
- Maintain Common Data Environment (CDE) standards and procedures
- Work closely with project teams, consultants and subcontractors to ensure compliance with document management protocols
- Support quality assurance and project governance requirements
- Produce document control reports and monitor project information workflows
- Ensure compliance with security, confidentiality and project-specific requirements
Essential Skills & Experience
- Significant experience within a Document Controller or Information Management role
- Strong knowledge of document control procedures within engineering, construction, infrastructure or defence environments
- Experience using Common Data Environments (CDEs) and information management systems
- Proficiency with SharePoint, Microsoft Excel and metadata management
- Experience using document management platforms such as Autodesk Vault, ProjectWise, Aconex, Viewpoint, 4Projects or similar systems
- Excellent organisational skills and attention to detail
- Strong communication and stakeholder management abilities
- Ability to work independently within a remote project environment
Desirable
- Previous experience supporting defence, nuclear or major infrastructure projects
- Current or previous Security Clearance (SC)
- Architectural Technology, Technical Architecture or related technical qualification
- Experience supporting multidisciplinary design teams
Security & Eligibility Requirements
Due to the nature of the projects involved, candidates must:
- Be a UK National
- Be eligible to obtain and maintain Security Clearance
- Ideally hold current or previous SC Clearance
