Multi-site across the Midlands - National Grid projects (civil engineering and mechanical and electrical) - up to £55k + car/benefits - well-established major construction contractor with opportunity for progression into management within a multi-tiered Health and Safety team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Project H&S Support: Provide support and guidance to project teams to ensure that health, safety, environmental, and quality standards are adhered to throughout the project lifecycle.
- Site based H&S Assistance: On construction or operational sites, offer direct HSE support, ensuring that safety protocols, environmental standards, and quality practices are being implemented effectively.
- H&S Risk Mitigation: Assist project teams in identifying and managing health, safety, environmental, and quality risks specific to each project. Ensure that project specific H&S procedures are followed.
- Health and Safety Management:
- Safety Guidance and Support: Provide practical health and safety advice and guidance to employees, supervisors, and project teams, ensuring adherence to safety policies and procedures.
- Risk Assessments: Conduct or assist in the identification and assessment of health and safety risks onsite or during operations. Support in the development and implementation of risk mitigation plans and control measures.
- Safety Inspections and Audits: Perform regular safety inspections and audits at job sites, offices, and other work areas to ensure that safety measures are being followed and that potential hazards are identified and corrected.
- Incident Reporting and Investigation: Assist in the investigation of accidents, incidents, near misses, and unsafe conditions. Document findings, identify root causes, and ensure corrective actions are implemented to prevent recurrence.
- Safety Compliance Monitoring: Monitor compliance with health and safety regulations and company policies. Ensure all personnel are following safe work practices and using appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Safety Training: Support the planning, coordination, and delivery of health and safety training programs. Provide training to staff on topics such as safe work practices, emergency response procedures, and the proper use of safety equipment.
- Environmental Compliance: Ensure that company operations, projects, and activities comply with all applicable environmental laws, regulations, and internal standards. Assist in promoting environmentally sustainable practices within the organization.

- HSE Reporting: Assist in preparing regular reports on HSE performance for management. Track key performance indicators (KPIs) related to safety incidents, environmental compliance, and quality assurance, and contribute to reporting findings.
- HSE Meetings: Participate in HSE meetings with project teams, providing input on health, safety, environmental, and quality matters. Support the HSE Manager in driving HSE initiatives and improvements across projects.
