A leading Tier 1 contractor is seeking a Design Manager / Senior Design Manager to support the delivery of a major Ministry of Justice project in Hampshire.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and coordinate the design process across all project stages.
  • Lead multidisciplinary design teams, consultants, and specialist subcontractors.
  • Ensure design information is delivered in accordance with programme requirements.
  • Review design deliverables for quality, compliance, and buildability.
  • Chair design coordination meetings and manage technical queries.
  • Liaise with client, construction, commercial, and planning teams to ensure successful project delivery.
  • Identify and mitigate design-related risks and support value engineering initiatives.
  • Monitor design progress and report on key project milestones.

Requirements

  • Experience as a Design Manager or Senior Design Manager within a Tier 1 main contractor environment.
  • Proven track record delivering large-scale construction projects.
  • Strong understanding of design management, technical coordination, and project delivery.
  • Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Ability to work within complex and highly regulated project environments.

Desirable

  • Previous Ministry of Justice (MoJ) or Ministry of Defence (MoD) project experience.
  • Experience delivering secure, custodial, defence, or public sector projects.
  • BPSS and EL1 clearance, or eligibility to obtain clearance.
