My client are a well-established paving and surfacing company delivering high-quality works across a range of sectors, including carriageways, retail parks, housing developments, schools, and commercial premises. With a strong reputation for reliability and excellence, they are looking to appoint an experienced Contracts Manager to join their growing team and oversee the successful delivery of multiple surfacing and paving projects.
As Contracts Manager, you will be responsible for the planning, coordination, and contracts management of surfacing and paving contracts from initial award through to final handover. You will ensure that all projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget, and in accordance with contractual obligations and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities:- Manage multiple surfacing and paving projects concurrently across various sectors.
- Oversee all contractual aspects of the projects, including compliance, variations, claims, and dispute resolution.
- Liaise with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and internal teams to ensure clear communication and coordination throughout the project lifecycle.
- Monitor project progress, performance, and costs, producing regular reports for senior management.
- Lead pre-start meetings, site inspections, and progress reviews.
- Ensure that Health & Safety, environmental, and quality standards are adhered to at all times.
- Support tendering processes, including pricing and review of contract terms.
- Identify and mitigate project risks to ensure smooth delivery.
- Maintain accurate project records and contractual documentation.
- Proven experience as a Contracts Manager or similar role in the surfacing/paving or civil engineering industry.
- Solid understanding of standard forms of contract (e.g., NEC, JCT) and relevant legal/commercial principles.
- Strong background in delivering projects such as carriageways, retail parks, housing developments, and education facilities.
- Excellent project management, communication, and negotiation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple contracts and teams across different locations.
- Full UK driving licence.
- Relevant qualifications in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field (preferred but not essential).
