Infrastructure & Utilities Consultancy based in Lancashire is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor for a permanent position with a salary of up to £70,000. The client provides infrastructure consultancy services including project management, quantity surveying, commercial management, financial audit, and training. They aim to deliver bespoke solutions to clients through innovative software and systems.
The successful Quantity Surveyor will:
- Ensure compliance with the HSEQ requirements within areas of responsibility.
- Manage all commercial issues on assigned projects effectively or escalate as appropriate.
- Oversee day-to-day work and mentor the quantity surveying team.
- Maintain systems with necessary amendments.
- Analyse claims from Consultants and Contractors, preparing recommendations for the Commercial Manager or Client.
- Review, monitor, and report on Variations Orders, Compensation Events, and Claims, recording status within a robust database/spreadsheet for each reporting period (weekly and monthly).
- Review, monitor, and respond to on-site correspondence and documents for compliance with contract provisions.
- Manage and review variation and issue files, prepare summaries, and negotiate consultant and contractor claims.
- Approve and verify interim applications for payments.
- Approve and verify quantities and costs for completion.
- Approve and verify materials’ procurement activities, providing consultation when required.
- Manage and mitigate risks such as ambiguities, conflicts, or deviations from the scope of work.
Candidate requirements:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent or related Engineering field (Essential).
- Working towards or holding professional qualification such as RICS (Desirable).
- Working towards or holding MSc in a construction-related topic such as Law, Project Management, etc. (Desirable).
