We are seeking a MEICA Project Engineer to support the design and site delivery of mechanical, electrical, instrumentation, control, and automation (MEICA) works within the water sector, specifically aligned with AMP 8 frameworks such as those for United Utilities. This role involves providing technical and site support throughout the project lifecycle, from design development through to construction, commissioning, and handover. The successful candidate will work closely with multidisciplinary teams, including civil and process engineers, contractors, and clients, ensuring that MEICA designs are buildable, compliant with industry standards, and delivered safely, on time, and within budget. Strong emphasis will be placed on design coordination, site support, value engineering, and maintaining quality and safety standards across all MEICA activities.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and contribute to the design and technical delivery of MEICA systems for water and wastewater treatment projects.
- Provide site-based engineering support to ensure installation and commissioning align with design intent and client requirements.
- Review and interpret mechanical, electrical, and control system drawings and specifications.
- Coordinate with design teams, contractors, and clients to resolve technical issues and optimise delivery.
- Assist with inspection, testing, and commissioning activities on site.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental, and quality standards throughout project phases.
- Contribute to value engineering initiatives to improve buildability and cost-effectiveness.
- Maintain accurate project documentation and support reporting requirements.
Skills
- Mechanical, Electrical, Instrumentation, Control & Automation (MEICA) expertise.
- Experience in water or wastewater sector projects, preferably AMP 8 framework.
- Strong design interpretation and site support capabilities.
- Knowledge of relevant UK standards and regulations (e.g., WIMES, BS 7671).
- Ability to coordinate multidisciplinary teams and subcontractors.
- Value engineering and buildability assessment skills.
- Health, safety, and environmental compliance awareness.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Project documentation and reporting proficiency.
- Problem-solving and technical troubleshooting on site.

- Relevant engineering qualification (HNC/HND/Degree) in Mechanical, Electrical, or related discipline.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (or equivalent).
- SMSTS or SSSTS (desirable).
- CSCS card (desirable).
- Familiarity with CDM 2015 regulations.
- Membership or working towards membership of a relevant professional institution (e.g., IMechE, IET).
