About the Role
We are seeking an experienced Temporary Works Design Engineer to join our site-based team at Sellafield. This is a key role within the project delivery team, providing both technical oversight and hands-on design input for temporary works.
The successful candidate will act as a Temporary Works Design Engineer , ensuring all temporary works are designed, checked, and implemented safely, efficiently, and in full compliance with current standards and site procedures.
You will work closely with design teams, the client, and external SMEs, helping to streamline the design process by contributing concept and detailed design input where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
Oversee and coordinate the Temporary Works process on site, ensuring compliance with BS 5975 and project procedures.
Act as the Temporary Works Coordinator, liaising with designers, checkers, and construction teams.
Provide hands-on support with concept and detailed design to accelerate delivery and resolve technical challenges.
Interface with design houses, client representatives, and independent reviewers to ensure safe and practical solutions.
Maintain accurate records, approvals, and permits associated with all temporary works.
Provide technical assurance and advice to the project team on temporary works and associated civil engineering issues.
About You
Chartered Engineer (CEng, MICE) – essential.
Strong background in site-based civil or structural engineering, with demonstrable experience managing temporary works.
Experience acting as a TWC on large, complex infrastructure or nuclear projects preferred.
Proven ability to produce or review temporary works designs (e.g., excavations, formwork, falsework, scaffolding, access structures, etc.).
Able to work collaboratively across disciplines and with multiple stakeholders.
Eligible to obtain Sellafield Security Clearance and a P4 Pass.
