We are seeking to place a Shift Technician within the Maintenance Department at our Barnstone site to cover a period of long-term sickness. This temporary placement provides an opportunity to work within a fast-paced, 24/7 operational environment, supporting production through the provision of high-quality maintenance services.
The successful candidate will join a team of multi-skilled technicians working alongside production shifts to ensure plant reliability and efficiency.
Please note: This role operates on a rotating day and night shift pattern, including weekend coverage as required.
The full-time shift technician role averages 37 hours per week, although weekly hours vary across a 4-week rotation.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide electrical and mechanical maintenance support across the site, including fault diagnosis, repair, and planned maintenance
Support process reliability by ensuring equipment is maintained in a safe and efficient condition
Assist with the execution of preventive and corrective maintenance tasks in accordance with departmental schedules and standards
Comply with all site Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations and procedures
Collaborate effectively with the production and engineering teams to minimise downtime and improve performance
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities using the site\βs maintenance management system
Support root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives within the maintenance function
Candidate Requirements:
Minimum NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Maintenance (or equivalent)
Time-served Electrical / Process Control Engineering craftsperson
Mechanical experience is essential β dual-qualified candidates are preferred
Good working knowledge of industrial electrical and mechanical systems
A sound understanding of Health, Safety, and Environmental regulations, ideally within the cement or heavy manufacturing industry
Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team
Flexible and adaptable approach to working rotating shifts (day and night) in a 24/7 operation
