Overview
Freelance Quantity Surveyor
Type: Contract/Remote/Hybrid
Salary: £400 – £450 per day
Start Date: ASAP
We are seeking an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a main contracting background to oversee commercial performance across infrastructure projects nationwide. You will be a key member of the team working remotely with intermittent site visits ensuring subcontractors quotations and payments are constantly reviewed, reporting to the Commercial Head. The candidate will have experience in driving project profitability in line with NEC 4 contract principles.
Responsibilities
- Review sub-contractor quotations and placement of orders
- Track and optimise costs within operational teams to ensure financial efficiency
- Project cash flow and sales forecasts to support financial planning
- Prepare and submit monthly payment applications to maintain cash flow
- Hands-on experience with the NEC contract change control process, including preparing and implementing Early Warnings (EWs), managing Compensation Events (CEs) and preparing CE quotations
- Adhere to contractual timeframes and procedures
- Participate in internal and external meetings to ensure alignment with project goals
- Advocate and ensure safe working practices within the commercial team
Qualifications
- Degree qualification in Quantity Surveying
- 3 years\’ experience working as a Quantity Surveyor, ideally for a Tier 1 main contractor
- Proven track record (minimum 3 years) in administering NEC3/4 contracts
- Excellent communication and organisational skills
- Proficient user of MS packages – Outlook, Excel, and Word
- Previous BPSS Clearance
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Additional Details
Rate will be £400 – £450 per day. This role offers the opportunity to work on high-profile capital programmes with long-term impact delivering complex projects in live environments. If you fulfil the criteria above, please get in touch. Please note since this role involves working with a public sector client, it falls under IR35 regulations and payment will be processed through the PAYE Umbrella system.
