We are seeking a committed, safety-conscious, and highly motivated Depot Operative to join our busy operations team. This is a hands-on role that supports the day-to-day running of the depot, including the handling of cement and associated materials. The successful candidate will operate mobile plant equipment, manage stock levels, and help maintain compliance with environmental, safety, and quality standards. You will play a vital role in helping us meet operational targets and deliver excellent service to our customers, while upholding our commitments to ISO 9001 (Quality), 14001 (Environment), and 18001 (Health & Safety) standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Ensure full compliance with environmental and safety regulations.
- Operate mobile plant safely and effectively, particularly the Linde H70 Forklift.
- Load lorries accurately to meet OTIFIC (On Time In Full to Invoice Commitment) targets.
- Discharge rail tanks into depot silos, using Capstan and rope systems.
- Maintain accurate stock rotation to minimise waste and meet customer demand.
- Complete daily and monthly stock takes, and maintain clear IT records (emails, logs).
- Maintain a clean, safe, and efficient working environment, adhering to housekeeping standards.
- Report and log faults with mobile plant to ensure compliance and prevent downtime.
- Carry out mobile plant checks and basic maintenance as required.
- Learn to operate all depot-related plant and systems including bulk loading and bagging systems.
- Communicate clearly with team members and management to ensure efficient operations.
- Demonstrate flexibility and adaptability to meet changing daily requirements.
Qualifications & Experience, Essential:
- Good level of education including Maths and English.
- Valid Forklift Truck Licence.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Experience operating mobile plant machinery.
Desirable:
- IOSH or other health and safety qualification.
- Previous experience in a high-volume cement or industrial plant.
- Experience working as part of a larger operational team.
